Tasty feed for picky and fussy dogs

Switching to a high-quality food might taste better to your dog and is easily digestible. For small dogs, a food with smaller kibble might be sensible. If the dog is simply spoiled, a feeding routine and a limited feeding time can help.

To motivate your picky dog to eat, try these tips: Change the food by offering high-quality wet food or homemade meals. Choose a fixed feeding place and slightly warm the food to intensify the scent. Make sure the bowl is always clean, and offer the food at regular times. If the problem persists, consult your veterinarian to rule out possible health causes.

Find out why your dog is refusing the food. Is he used to you immediately offering him something new or do you feed him lots of snacks in addition? Bloating or digestive problems are signs that he is not tolerating the food well. A change in diet can help here. If you are unsure, please ask a veterinarian for advice.

Tastes vary, but dogs can precisely identify when a food is of high quality and delicious. You can recognize a healthy and tasty food by its ingredients: High-quality meat, offal, gluten-free sources of carbohydrates, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as valuable minerals, oils, and fibers.

Picky dogs often prefer certain flavors such as chicken, beef, lamb, or fish. Meaty ingredients like liver or heart are also often popular. The taste of savory, protein-rich foods attracts many dogs. Sometimes, the food can also have a more intense smell to attract your dog's attention. If your dog is very picky, it can be helpful to try different varieties to find out what he likes most.

Yes, varying the food can help stimulate your picky dog's appetite. Different tastes and textures can motivate him to eat more. However, be sure to introduce new types of food slowly to avoid digestive problems. A balanced diet is important, so each food variation should cover your dog's nutritional needs. If you are unsure, consult your veterinarian for recommendations that suit your dog's specific needs.

A reduced food intake can be observed for up to 2 days. If your dog still doesn't eat on the 3rd day, or shows other behavioral abnormalities such as lethargy, tiredness, restlessness, or gastrointestinal problems, you should better call the vet and ask for advice.
