Wet Food for Cats

Wet food provides your cat with fluid on the side - this is important because many kitties are real drink dodgers. Dry food has other advantages, such as high energy density and easy portioning. Both are okay - the main thing is that the composition is right. Many simply combine both - this brings variety and can be really sensible.

Wet food contains a lot of liquid - ideal for cats that don't drink much on their own. It is easily digestible, has a soft consistency, and has a strong smell - this is particularly appealing to fussy or older cats. It can also be a good choice for cats with sensitive stomachs, as the gentle preparation and high moisture content can help ease digestion.

For adult cats, two wet food meals per day are usually ideal. This corresponds to their natural eating behavior and contributes to a balanced diet. Kittens have a higher energy requirement and develop quickly - therefore, they need four to six smaller portions daily. It's important that you cater to the individual needs of your cat - for example, age, activity level, and habits.

How much wet food your cat needs depends on factors such as weight, age, and activity level. An initial guide is provided by the feeding recommendation on our cans. It refers to the daily amount if only our wet food is fed. If snacks or dry food are also given, the amount should be reduced accordingly - this helps to prevent obesity.

Opened wet food should be stored in the refrigerator and fed within 1-2 days. Important: seal it well to prevent spoilage. Before feeding, you can briefly bring it to room temperature - many cats find this more pleasant. Leftovers that have been standing for too long should be better discarded.

Wet food naturally contains a lot of moisture - significantly more than dry food. Therefore, your cat absorbs liquid while eating and often feels less thirsty in everyday life. This is perfectly normal and usually no cause for concern, as long as she is healthy and eats enough.
