Character and temperament

The pug’s temperament radiates warmth and affection. He accepts almost everyone unconditionally and welcomes them into his big heart. It’s no surprise that you’ll find him immortalized throughout history in numerous works of art: the pug is a true classic. No wonder – with his wit and humor he brings a smile to everyone’s face.

With his relaxed nature he manages to bring calm into the home and is always happy to take part in family life. The current image of the snuffling pug is by no means characteristic: until a few years ago, pugs with their longer heads had hardly any breathing problems, which is why responsible breeding should be a top priority.

Training and care

Not so long ago, the pug was extremely robust, up for any fun, and had a long life expectancy. Due to breeding for shorter muzzles, almost every pug now has serious breathing problems, which affect their care. As a result, pugs can sometimes only walk shorter distances and get out of breath more quickly.

With dogs from disreputable breeders, it’s more likely that frequent trips to the vet and thus high costs are to be expected. Reputable breeders focus on breeding longer muzzles and clear airways, which is why we strongly recommend thorough research beforehand.

Due to their size and calm nature, pugs are well suited for apartment living – whether it’s a villa or a studio, this four-legged friend doesn’t mind as long as he gets plenty of love and attention. With consistent training from puppyhood, the pug will be a loyal companion by your side.
