How your cat shows you love
No matter how long your feline friend has been by your side—days, weeks, months, or years—they have a permanent (and very, very big) place in your heart.
So you know just how much your cat loves you, we've collected the little signs of affection your kitty gives you every day. Because besides contented purring and wet kisses your darling shows you in many different ways that you mean the world to them.
Sign #1: Your cat lies on their back in front of your feet
Have you ever seen your cat run up to you, roll onto their back in front of your feet and eagerly stretch their belly towards you? If your kitty stretches out on the floor like this, they're seeking your undivided attention and showing you their love. How so?
Cats only show this kind of trust and vulnerability to their closest confidants and loved ones. Their belly is a sensitive area they want to protect. So if your feline friend is trying this hard to get your attention, you can be sure: it's love!
Letting someone scratch your belly is a true sign of love!
Sign #2: Your cat greets you with their tail held high
Your cat communicates a lot of their feelings and moods through the position and movement of their tail. In everyday life, you often intuitively know what your cat wants to express, whether it's worry or nervousness. But often your cat shows you their positive emotions much more subtly than the negative ones. Pay close attention to the smaller gestures.
So when you come home and your cat is waiting for you at the door with their tail held high and a bent tip waiting for you, they're happy to see you. Even as a kitten, they learned to approach their mom with their tail up and to express their joy this way. As an adult, your kitty continues this behavior when meeting a loved one—that's you.
Tip: Show your cat some love in return and treat them to a tasty snack! Since we know every cat has their own taste, at Pets Deli we offer a wide selection of food and treats for your feline friends.

Sign #3: Your cat kneads close to or on you
When your cat feels comfortable and happy, they might do the kneading motion, which looks a bit like they're kneading cookie dough with their paws. While it has nothing to do with hidden baking skills, this is how your kitty shows you their deep bond.
Kitten knead and massage their mother's belly in their first weeks to stimulate milk flow. Next time you're cuddling, watch your cat's paws: if they feel especially loved and reminded of the safety and affection of their mom, they might revert to their kitten behavior and start kneading.
Kneading you is a sign of love.
Sign #4: Your cat looks at you with half-closed eyes and blinks slowly
When you spoil your kitty with cuddles and they slowly close their eyes, they're not about to doze off and count mice, even if it looks that way. Instead, it's their tender way of saying: I'll never let you go!
The best part is, you can show your cat you love them in the same way. Slowly close your eyes and with a bit of luck, your darling will answer with a contented blink!
Sign #5: Your cat cuddles up and rubs their head against you
If your cat is wandering around at home and gives you a gentle headbutt at every opportunity, it's not because they're upset the food bowl is empty again or that you tossed their hard-earned mouse in the trash.
No, they're simply showing you that they really love you andare marking you with their scent, to tell the world: that human is mine!
How can I get my cat to love me?
Not sure if your cat really feels at home with you? Some cats need a little time to get used to their new home, but after a while, they become true companions. If your cat is a bit shy, it can take a few weeks to months.
There may not be a love potion for cats, but you can pay attention to the following things to help your cat feel truly comfortable with you:
Don't pressure your cat: Don't force them to cuddle or be petted. If they need space, then respect that. They'll come to you on their own after a while.
Spend time with your cat: Through play you build a bond with your kitty. Alternatively, you can tempt them with a few snacks. Toss them a few or try out some →cool tricks.
Set up a cat room: Especially in the beginning many kitties appreciate a retreat. This can be a room where you place a bed, water bowl, and toys for them.
Minimize stressors: Do you have other pets or →children at home? Maybe your cat is a bit stressed by that and just needs some peace and quiet. For this, too, a cat room as a quiet retreat can be just the thing.
Buy the right food: The way to a cat's heart is through their stomach too! If you spoil them with their favorite food, they'll happily rub against your legs. At Pets Deli, we know how important the →right food is, which is why we've developed many different food textures.
