The Chihuahua - the smallest dog breed in the world
Whether as a companion in the handbag of many celebrities, perched on an arm, or on a leash while strolling through the city center - the Chihuahua has much more to offer as the smallest dog breed in the world.
This little furball can also be different - what you can expect when you want to enrich your life with a Chihuahua, you will find out here.

Character and Nature
Small, but wow - this saying best describes the Chihuahua. Anyone who has had the chance to get to know a dog of this breed knows that these little four-legged friends are anything but mere lap dogs that need to be carried around all day. With their open nature, they love to explore their surroundings themselves, are always up for fun and games, and can endure even longer walks with determination. No question - every dog would naturally enjoy being cared for constantly. The same goes for the Chihuahua.
The strength of this short-legged furball definitely lies in its long attention span - which is why it also happily acts as a little watchdog and often makes its presence known with a loud voice - not least because the Chihuahua loves to draw attention to itself and is always present.
Training and Care
As small as it is, the Chihuahua needs consistent training precisely because of its low height and strong will. It tends to overestimate its own size, which is why early socialization with dogs of all sizes is important already in the →puppy stage. Its teachable, clever nature allows the little four-legged friend to quickly and willingly adopt desired behaviors.
Because the Chihuahua, like most small dogs, needs a lot of affection (and demands it!), it is not suitable for living with small children or for being alone for several hours each day. If circumstances do not allow otherwise, the strong-willed Chihuahua should always have a retreat from children, as it can quickly feel overwhelmed.
Depending on the type, coat care can also be a time-consuming aspect. While short-haired Chihuahuas only require normal, regular coat care, it is more elaborate for long-haired ones.
