Origin: Great Britain

Size: 25-30 cm

Weight: 6.5-8.2 kg

Life Expectancy: 13-16 years

Character: energetic, self-confident, lively, brave

Character and Nature

His energy is the hallmark of the Jack Russell - he has so much of it that by the end of the day, even after a lot of exercise, there’s still some left. Due to his cheerful and active nature, he loves to be outdoors for hours - not least because of his strong hunting instinct. For his willingness to learn and intelligence, specialized training such as agility or fetch games is suitable.

In any case, the "Jacky" is self-confident, brave, and playful, and always greets fellow dogs and other people with a lively welcome. When boredom strikes, the terrier likes to show his extremely lively side.

Training and Care

To meet the demands of this little bundle of energy, a lot of time and patience is necessary. For training to be successful despite his energetic and very self-assured nature, prior experience with dogs is advantageous. Training must be very consistent from the →puppy age, as the terrier tends to dance around his owners if they do not assert themselves.

Due to his energy, keeping him in a house with a garden is also recommended. Longer and regular periods of being alone do not suit this four-legged friend at all: If he gets bored and is not stimulated, he seeks his own entertainment options - possibly at the expense of your new sneakers! However, when well-exercised, the Jack Russell Terrier is a cuddly, loving companion who also gets along well with children.
