Character and Nature
Small size, but all the more character. This certainly applies to the long-haired Havanese, which charms most people with its always cheerful and uncomplicated nature. Similar to the →Maltese and the Bichon Frisé, the Havanese became known primarily for its calling as a lap dog. But as much as the cuddly four-legged friend enjoys spending time on the lap of its humans, it also loves to show its playful, open, and clever nature.
Small but mighty: While the Havanese does occasionally display watchful behavior, it is by no means dominant or loud. It probably has so much love for its owners that it sometimes wants to protect its belongings - always in a respectful manner. Found as a →snow-white beauty or in other colors, the Havanese, with its wavy, up to 18 cm long top coat, requires regular →coat care.

What is the difference between a Maltese and a Havanese?
For the layperson, there is probably hardly a suitable answer to the question of the differences between the two breeds. Only in size is the Maltese a few centimeters smaller than the Havanese. Character-wise, both are definitely on the same wavelength: Both dog breeds bring a cheerful, child-loving, and balanced nature. However, an optical difference can be found in the coat, as the Maltese is allowed to be only white according to its breed standard, while the Havanese also comes in various shades of brown and in black or black-and-white.
